PRIVATE VIEW SATURDAY 20TH OCTOBER 6-9PM ALL WELCOME!
Sunset Flip denotes a finishing move in the sport of entertainment wrestling where one wrestler acrobatically pins the opponent to the canvas. The sense that theater that unfolds during this sequence is something that Doris Day, Leslie Farago and Ben Sanders all bring to the walls and floor of Joseph Wales. Growing up in the 90’s, all three artists create an atmosphere within the gallery where analogue assemblage, fluro hues and industrial patterns capture an era of discovery and escapism. Paintings of retro wrestlers do battle with the bruised hinterlands with an over sized sketchbook. All the while those watchful eyes and collage limbs peer on, waiting for the moment of gravity defying drama of the sunset flip.
